Electrochromic Glazing

Curious what people's 'best' experiences or recommendations are for load calculations and energy modeling regarding electrochromic glazing... hoping I can lean on others as it's just now becoming more of a talking point in our market here in Omaha.

Specific questions including whether load and energy modeling software are separate (Trace and eQuest) or what energy modeling software people prefer (eQuest or Energy+)?

Hi Sarah, We've just been modeling a project that is interested in View glass, which is electrochromic. The modeling, which we did in IES and was fairly straightforward, boiled down to setting a variable SHGC based on incident solar radiation with a linear relationship. They had a fixed assembly U value of 0.35. We set up a call with View to review the results and methodology, which was nice to be able to do to confirm.  As to the next question about loads, the MEP is using their normal load calc process but referring to our results and using an effective static SHGC to approximate the load result.  Hope that helps. Thanks for the response Josh! I've heard from others using IES for both load and energy modeling here also.
