EBOM-2009 IEQc3.2:Green Cleaning—Custodial Effectiveness Assessment

APPA Room Type Definitions

Hello,

We are working on a building recertification to EBOM 2009 and are having difficulty tracking down the room definitions according to APPA. Would anyone be able to define the following room types?

  • Break
  • Conference (do these include meeting rooms?)
  • Common Area (do these include reception areas?)
  • Lobby (do these include elevator areas on each floor or hallways?)
  • Medical (do these include labs?)
  • Storage

Many thanks in advance.

Alexis

Hi Alexis, here's my two cents:
  • Break - This is like a kitchenette / pantry / break room where employees can get away from their desk, eat lunch, etc
  • Conference (do these include meeting rooms?) - I would include meeting rooms here
  • Common Area (do these include reception areas?) - That's reasonable to do
  • Lobby (do these include elevator areas on each floor or hallways?) - I think elevator lobbies are good to include under 'elevator', rather than 'lobby', due to the appearance items under each category (e.g. 'lobby' has matting/grates and trash containers, which elevator lobbies typically don't have - but if yours do, you could chose to put them in lobby instead)
  • Medical (do these include labs?) - I think it would be appropriate to include labs here
  • Storage - Typically storage rooms for supplies

Much appreciated - thank you Trista!
