Hello,
I'm working on a lab / processing facility aiming for LEED v4 NC certification.
There are several "safety"/"emergency" showers throughout that are not WaterSense labelled. My question is: are these required to be WaterSense labelled as well? They are not intended for daily use.
Additionally, there are several faucets throughout the facility, outside of the Kitchen and Bathroom. How would we distinguish what faucets need to be included for this prereq?

We do quite a bit of factory work where it is common to have 'emergency' plumbing fixtures. GBCI allows such fixtures to be excluded from LEED therefore they do not need to be watersense labeled. They are also excluded from the water use reduction calculation.
The fixtures that are outside of the kitchen and bathroom can be excluded as well if they are for uses other than hand washing associated with bathroom use and water consumption for kitchen use.
If a fixture has a use for bathroom handwashing, kitchen/breakroom sink use, or typical shower use it must meet prereq requirements.
If a fixture has a use for emergency/safety situations or for special sanitary circumstances (e.g. wash hand before entering factory is mandatory) then they are excluded from LEED requirements and calculations.
hope this helps.

I agree with David's insight. We have even been told to exclude handwashing sinks in kitchens such as those in a cafeteria kitchen that would be for the food service workers. Similarly, I had a project that had a massage parlor and we were advised not to include (as in, we could if we wanted to, but it wasn't required) the handwashing sinks in the individual rooms since they were considered process water.

Does kitchen use only include hand and dishwashing? We've got a water cooler/filler that I don't believe should be included but wanted to check.

That's right, you can omit water machines.
