What a great first day!

Here are the slides from the show and tell presentations last night at SOM's office; everyone who presented with slides has given approval to share them.

Hi MEP Leaders, What an inspiring event . . . Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich . . . it was great meeting everyone! Looking forward to the first action-items that come out of day 2.  I'm game to dive in and start making an impact. Regards,
Jacob

Take a look at the attached section of a code model report for a project in Tampa.  Contrary to other AHJs, it looks like Tampa is really trying to be specific about the plan reviewer and inspectors checking energy related items.

This report is a standard output from the Florida-specific version of COMCheck, called FLACOM.  Unfortunately, experience is that most code inspectors (including the ones in Tampa) do not take this seriously.  On the other hand, if you try to get away with something in Plantation, which is just west of Fort Lauderdale, you will be caught and you will be punished. One of my favorite "easter eggs" is found on page 5, the two inspector-check items for fenestration.  The Plantation inspectors are famed for red-tagging buildings where the contractor cleaning crew has pulled the NFRC window certificates off and thrown them away before the inspector visits.

I'm working this week on a summary of take-aways and outcomes to share. If you have your own thoughts on what to include, feel free to share that here, or directly with me. In the meantime, here are the flipchart pages I scrawled on during the meeting.

Team, One of the outcomes is to write a letter to the AE programs.  See attached AIA document to National Architectural Accrediting Board to advocate the importance of climate change in their programs.  Maybe similar can be done to AEI or National Architectural Engineering Accrediting Board? Best, LL

Hi MEP Leaders, Here is a report summarizing the outcomes and action items from our Summit. It's only four pages (not one, sorry). Please take a look and check in on any commitments you may have made, and feel free to use this in sharing outcomes with your firms and networks. I was missing a few key notes, so for the first three action items I have the leaders but not the supporting team members. Hopefully you know who you are--or the leaders know and can reach out to you. I know that some of you are already well underway with your initiatives! We targeted August 7 as a first deadline for updates on many of these. I'll be looking to set up a call the week of August 12 where we can reconnect, loop in those who weren't able to make to the Summit, and check in on our actions. Thanks again to all who came--it was an amazing couple of days! Nadav

Regarding action items in the outcome above, reply from Andy Persily was posted a month or so ago, a CO2 presentation was made to the SDL summit and email was sent to CBE at UC Berkeley to request discussion time during the Oct meeting and position of CBE on this topic.  Will follow up with CBE reply, if any.
