Some of the food products in our building are purchased by outside companies such as the vending machine food. Do these products count as ongoing consumables under this credit, even though it is an outside company actually buying them?

Hi Alex, the Reference Guide says that "Food and beverages sold through vending machines may be included or excluded from the calculations." I think USGBC probably included this because there are fewer sustainable options for vending machine snacks, rather than because of who purchases the items. For other food purchases, like ingredients for a cafeteria, it wouldn't matter who makes the purchase - it would all need to be accounted for in the credit calculations.
