What is your favorite Biophilic Design exercise?

Our Green Team is holding a Biophilic Design workshop on Earth Day with our own staff for biophilic interventions within our office space. We are referencing the Biophilic Design Guidebook from LBC but it will be a shorter time frame, about 1.5 hours total. Last summer we introduced biophilia to the office through the exercise where each person selects a natural item from the table and then talks about what drew them to it. I'm looking for fresh ideas for an opening exercise this time around. Does anyone have a favorite Biophilic Design exercise? Or ideas that we could test out?

Hi Heather, I participated in a Biophilic Design Workshop for a project that was kicked off with our president Kenner Kingston asking a question:  If you could be anywhere you wanted to be right now, your favorite place to be in the world, where would that be?  We then went around the room and each person answered that question of where and why.  Invariably, it was a place in nature.  That really got people inspired from the very beginning.

A variable between the two is to have people bring an object that reminds them of a good childhood memory – usually the same outcome. “I brought this shell because it reminds me I used to walk on the beach with my dad…” Margaret Montgomery, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP Principal NBBJ 223 Yale Avenue North SEATTLE WA 98109 Direct: 206.223.5230 Mobile: 206.200.4526 www.nbbj.com / @nbbjdesign / http://meanstheworld.co From: P
