Hi Advising Leaders!
Lets get this forum going by introducing ourselves (yes, I know we mostly know each other, but just to be sure). And sharing what's most exciting and/or bugging us these days. Oh, and if you haven't already, please fill out your BG.com profile with a picture and bio.
I'll start. I'm Nadav, president at BuildingGreen. My work is increasingly about facilitating workshops and conversations--or whatever program a client needs help getting aligned and organized to accomplish. I really credit the 10+ years of facilitating SD Leader Summits as getting me oriented in this direction. And I LOVE doing it.
I also do a fair amount of advising and training around products and materials for sustainability. I have a love-hate relationship with that work. I love how, after years of telling people that products are not as important as operations in buildings, we're learning that actually they might be MORE important--at least when it comes to embodied carbon impacts over the near term. I hate that it's hard to give people good answers in their search for low-impact products that work well, look good, and don't cost a fortune.
I've also been frustrated by how hard it is to get product information shared across the industry. I've tried to generate interest in a "Universal Product ID" as a public good--that would reduce some of the friction that makes sharing info so hard. HPDC has adopted it in principle, but we don't yet have a platform or service to define and organize it.
That's it from me (for now). Your turn.
