Municipal law requires that our building be completely smoke-free inside. It also bans smoking next to the building, but it’s not as stringent as the 25 foot LEED requirement. Do we have to make another policy that bans smoking within 25 feet?

Hi,

with reference to Step 2 of the Reference Guide - Designate location of exterior smoking areas, it states "determine whether the project has or will have designated outdoor smoking areas. Is the designation of the smoking area mandatory or not?

Hi Fabio, designated smoking areas are not mandatory. It's up to project teams to decide whether to have designated smoking area(s) or not.
