Schools-NC-v4 LTc7:Reduced parking footprint

Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Transportation Planning Handbook

Does anyone know if the table in the 4th edition, which LEED v4.1 references, is different than the 3rd edition?

We just came across an issue that we are hoping has been dealt with in the past regarding default occupancy ratios for parking stalls at elementary/high schools. In particular, the LEED v4 guide default occupancy ratios for parking stalls: Total number of parking stalls for elementary school = 0.2 /gym or auditorium seat or 0.25/student The Transportation planning handbook default occupancy ratios for parking stalls: Total number of parking stalls for elementary school = 0.2 /gym or auditorium seat + 0.25/student Total number of parking stalls for high school=.3 /gym or auditorium seat + 0.3/student Has anyone had issues with these variances in the past/ have you received any guidance from a LEED coach or through a LEED interpretation. In the meantime, we will likely follow the Reference Guide requirements to be conservative.

Two quick replies:  Yes, the table is different.  It is worth tracking down a copy of the book for the table the ratios listed elsewhere in narrative form in Chapter 11.  Maybe copy it at the library. In the narrative for Educational Institutions, it says "the higher of  "X" OR "Y" for the schools ratios you mention.  Question for others:  in these tables where there are several ratios stated, is it generally understood that we should use the "Average" column, and the "Daily Weekday" line for LEED base ratios? Tx!

Hi Susann, could you check your link? It doesn't seem to be working. I'm still looking for the correct resource. Looking to compare v4 vs v4.1

It was brought to my attention in another thread that there are v4.1 addenda out now and I believe this referenced standard was one of them. Take a look in the credit library and go to the addenda tab
