Hi,
Our firm is working on a Kennel project (registered under NCv2009). The project water use includes faucets/hose bibs to clean animal cages and transportation vans along with regular WCs, faucets, sinks etc. for the occupants. We have included all fittings that are used by the occupants regularly in the water reduction calculations. However, the LEED reference guide documents certain fixture/fitting/appliance exclusions from the scope of the calculations.
Would it be fair to assume that all process water (used for washing animal cages and transportation vans) is outside the scope for WEp1 and WEc3 credits?
Thanks in advance. Look forward to your response.

I believe that would be considered process water & thus excluded from water calcs.
However my daughter works at Vet Hospital and I know that wastewater is full of bleach and other cleaners. So the wastewater should be reviewed in regards to any local city/town sewer regulations for restrictions on pH, temp. and chemicals that can't go into sewer. LEED requires meeting all local regs.
