Pilot-Credits IPpc93:Prevention through Design

More challenging than anticipated

I have three projects that are pursing this Pilot Credit. The project teams have found completing the worksheet more challenging than anticipated, but I think it was a useful process to go through.

One thing to note is that despite the name, there is a construction component to the worksheet that the contractor must complete.

We also found the worksheet a bit challenging. I understand its intent, but it's a little repetative and doesn't allow a story to be told. I think perhaps restructuring the worksheet to address each item one at a time, through the entire process, would be more beneficial. Example: "Roofing Systems. What was/is the typical baseline? What typical hazards did you identify? What were the idea to potentially mitagate? What did you eventually incorporate? Who was involved in this change?" That way you can write out the story as a whole for each area/type where you were able to make changes. Splitting it up into different sections leads to a lot of repetition and a clunky narrative. Thanks, glad I'm not the only one who found it a little cumbersome! All-in-all though, this credit is a fantastic step forward for encouraging safer design and construction, so kudos to everyone invovled.
