CS-v4 EAc2:Optimize energy performance

Purchased chilled water modelling but pursuing cooling tower use credits

Dear All,

My project is a part of a big master development, but is planning to have its own certification. This condition allows us purchasing chilled water from the master site. So, we will use the modeling method with purchased chilled water for the credit, Optimize Energy Performance.

However, I am wondering about the opportunity of pursuing the credit, Cooling Tower Water Use, if we use the campus approach to achieve the points with Cooling Tower Water Use. We can meet the requirements of the cooling towers in the master site. However, no cooling tower in our LEED boundary as our site will purchase the chilled water from the master site. In this case, can we also use the energy modeling method with the purchased chilled water?

Regards,

Nuttanee

If the project is a separate LEED submission then it would not be eligible for the cooling tower water use reduction credit unless it complies with the requirements of the pilot credit - https://www.usgbc.org/credits/WEpc94OM  If it is part of a campus submission then that credit can be earned at the master site level and applied to your project.
