The Sustainable Design Leaders group has had awesome, inspiring Summits for ten years now—and there is so much more we can do can to make it a thriving, essential year-round community. To do that we have to extend the trusted “safe space” of the Summits into our online conversations.
And other groups are just getting started on a similar model—we want to ensure that we can support them effectively.
Starting this fall, each SD Leader will be asked to pay an annual membership fee of $325 per person. Membership is required to be invited to Summits, participate in the online forums, and take advantage of the other benefits, including salary surveys and other custom reports. We will be offering several options for this membership payment, including paying for the membership at the same time as paying for a Summit.
Here’s how the Online communities are currently organized:
- Sustainable Design Leaders: This online community is only for people who are currently in the role of SD Leader at a mid-sized or large firm.
- Sustainable Construction Leaders: A parallel group for sustainability leaders at construction firms.
- Sustainability Consultants: This is a newly forming group for consultants that are trusted by the network.
- This “Green Gurus” forum (which used to be hosted on Wiggio) is the umbrella group; including SD Leaders and participants from the other communities.
There have also been requests to set up groups for smaller architecture firms, and for engineers—we’re working on those.
This new Communities structure will enable BuildingGreen to maintain the unique qualities we all value about the Sustainable Design Leaders network, while also enhancing the year-round benefits the network has to offer.
