I am wanting to take the pulse of this group on behalf of a manufacturer who has asked us a similar question.
The company in question makes wood products and has had FSC CoC for over a decade. Recently, they are encountering issues with sourcing FSC for about 50% of the wood species they offer. There just aren't FSC sources available.
They are looking to PEFC in order to offer some level of Certification to the industry where FSC sources are unavailable. They do not intend to eliminate FSC... but feel compelled to find another way to source 'sustainably sourced' woods.
How does this situation make you feel? Do you trust the PEFC when FSC isn't available? What would you rather see if not?
Any feedback is helpful to get a pulse of feelings that are out there.
