NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

LEED for Healthcare

Hello Marcus,

Why is there a sliding scale for Healthcare as opposed to New Construction?

For example a New Construction project achieves 1 LEED point for demonstrating a 6% improvement while Healthcare would achieve 3 LEED points for demonstrating a 6% improvement.

I believe it has to do with design requirements inherent of Healthcare that make ASHRAE 90.1 a bit more challenging to exceed.

Any input is most appreciated.

Thank you!

Dave

I think that was the idea. Same thing for CS projects too. Also Healthcare has some additional credits and they have to distribute the same number of overall points which accounts for some of the differences.

July Addenda issued LI 10493 which allows NC projects with high non-regulated energy loads to use CS thresholds when determining points.  https://www.usgbc.org/leedaddenda/10493
