Specifications - Sustainable Deign Requirements - 018113 - Certified Wood

What is the minimum percentage by cost of certified wood that must be met for LEED CI v4?  I am writing the specifications and am not able to find this number when researching the MR credit.

Specification section below:

Certified Wood: Not less than <Insert number> percent, by cost, of wood-based materials shall be produced from wood obtained from forests certified by an FSC-accredited certification body to comply with FSC STD-01-001.

Hi Fee, There is no minimum %, per se. Certified wood is lumped with other criteria in the BPDO calculator and you just need a combined total (by cost) to meet 25% (including recycled content, bio based materials, extended producer responsibility, etc). So, you could have 2% of certified wood and still meet that 25% credit minimum with all other contributions, or have 75% certified wood and still only meet 25% with all other contributions. So it is really up to the design team as to what's feasible or desired in terms of sustainably sourced wood on the project vs having LEED set a threshold. You could play around with the BPDO spreadsheet and see what sort of minimums for each contribution category that you might want to set to meet the 25% for the point. You could also stick with the LEED 2009 requirements at 50% just to play it safe, but it can be pretty easy to get to the 25% with overall materials depending on the project and other materials.  Alara
