Has anyone ever been successful with LEED LCA credit for Asian region where there are not many EPDs or database on the regional materials?

Yes, we have had successful projects in e.g. Vietnam, Malaysia and also I think Myanmar with One Click LCA. And in more developed countries in the region of course too. It's based on generic materials database and peer reviewed & third party verified local compensation method.

Yes although LEED recommend that the team try to find a tool with local data sets. If that is not possible, then alternative data sets may be used providing their is a narrative explanation in the report. We have had a number of projects globally successfully awarded the LCA credits using the Auslci dataset within eToolLCD
Choosing the data source is not as critical to the project as may first seem. We have completed over 300 LCAs using varying data sources including AusLCI, ICE, Ecoinvent and Bre IMPACT. The difference in the context of the overall LCA results tends to be fairly minor and certainly doesnt affect the overall conclusions and recommendations coming from the LCA. Concrete manufactured in the UK actually has very similar impacts to concrete manufactured in Africa. Although the electricity grid emissions are different this is only one contributing factor with raw material extraction, processing techniques transport etc all adding up to the total.
