Hi All,
We are working in a pharmaceutical industry project which has a conditioned area of 78000sq.ft; as per ASHRAE 90.1 2010 the baseline case system is System 6 – Packaged VAV with PFP Boxes.
Since it is pharmaceutical industry we have a zones having special pressurization relationships, cross contamination requirements and code required circulation rates. So can we use System 4- PSZ-HP?
Whether this type of exception is possible in ASHRAE 90.1 2010 G3.1.1 Baseline HVAC system type and description.
Thanks in Advance

Yes, you have to use System 4- PSZ-HP.

Check out the exceptions under G3.1.1. You must use the ones that apply to your project.

If the project was v2009, it would be pretty cut and dry. In 90.1-2010 the exception for spaces with code-required air change rates or special pressurization requirements has been removed. The only way you can use Sys4 rather than Sys6 is if G3.1.1 exception b applies, which is for spaces with loads that differ by more the 10 Btu/h/ft2 or schedules that differ by more than 40 equivalent full load hours per week.
