LEED ID+C: Commercial Interior or LEED BD+C: New Construction

Dear all,

There is a project having 4 stories with 8 equal areas, three of them are going to be registered for LEED. They include a R&D room (1), a manufacturing area (2) and a storage of manufactured products (3).

- Area (1): design, select and develop new products,

- Area (2): produce approved products and check quality of finish goods,

- Area (3): store manufactured goods.

In this case, can areas (2) and (3) be considered showrooms because they are used to demonstrate products and then they can apply LEED ID+C for CI? Or the entire building must use LEED BD+C rating system for NC?

Thank you and Best regards.

Our project, which sounds very similar, just came through preliminary design review.  We had been advised to use LEED v4 BD+C New Construction and it was the appropriate choice. In addition the spaces you have, we did include the manufacturing and storage areas plus we have a large loading dock. We borrowed from LEED-Manufacturing on the Green Vehicles credit, using Option 2: Reduced Truck Idling with 100% of all dock doors having charging stations. It is now anticipated with no comments in preliminary review.

Thank you for your reponse, Kath. The project owner have had a changement in areas they want to get certification for: R&D room only. That leads the project to other questions:  https://leeduser.buildinggreen.com/forum/leed-idc-time-boundary-and-owner It would be appreciated if you can share your opinions or ideas for this case. Thank you in advance.
