NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Natural Ventilation Procedure - Prescriptive Path 62.1 2010

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the location and sizing openings, in the building we have spaces with double side openings, in opposite facades. The 6.4.2 section specifies that the space must have openable area of 4% of the total occupied area. Must each facade has the 4% or the openable area in both facades must sum 4%?

Hi Nicolas, As long as the windows are near the naturally ventilated areas (6.4.1 Floor Area to be Ventilated. spaces, or portions of spaces, to be naturally ventilated must be located within a distance based on the ceiling height, as determined by Sections 6.4.1.1, 6.4.1.2, 6.4.1.3, ... ), there is no requirement regarding openings for each facade.
