SSc4 Alternative Commuting Transportation -Recert- Every 5 years from First Survey Date or From Initial LEED Certification Date?

Hello,

We want to complete another SSc4 Survey and the initial certification date was Jan. 2014. The first Alternative Commuting Survey was completed November 2012, which would make doing a survey after Nov. 2017, too late, but if we use the initial cert. date, then we have until Jan. 2019. Can we do another survey between now and Feb, 2019, when we submit for Recertification? I know a lot of people are opting to just start a completely new certification, but we are trying hard to achieve a Recert., and wondering when and if we can do another Sc4 Alt. C. Survey from this date at all?

Hi Michelle, apologies for the delayed response. The recertification guidance says: "Perform commute survey at least once every 5 years." So like you outlined above, if your survey was Nov 1, 2012 you'd need to complete a new survey by Nov 1, 2017. It's possible that GBCI will let you take an alternative approach if you contact them. Please let us know what you ended up doing!
