NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

DES Baseline and Proposed

Dear all,

I'm working on an energy model where we make use of a central cooling plant (no heating required) which is outside the scope of this project. So I guess this accounts for a campus thermal energy system.

When reading the 'DES - District energy systems guidance v2.2 and v2009', chapter 2.4.1.1. I think I can model the same district cooling system for both the baseline and proposed building in order to hold the DES cost-neutral.

Is this correct, or do I miss someting?
Hope someone can help me with this question.

You never model the same DES in both models. Under Option 1 you model purchased chilled water in both. Under Option 2 you model the DES in the proposed and the Appendix G system in the baseline.

Got it. Do you probably know how to model this in DesignBuilder?
I have to connect the cooling coil to something...

So in the proposed you model all the system components inside the building. In the baseline you follow the system guidance in the DES for Option 1. Some of the air based systems get modified.
