1)During the solid waste audit process, is it accepted to include all kinds of paper under one description( mixed paper)? or we have to segrega the paper into computer paper, news paper, magazine, ...ect?
2)In a collection cost audit form template, there are two columns for waste pick up cost and the monthly cost, my question is : if the building is having a yearly contract with a company to perfrom weekly waste audit ( includign waste collection and transfer), how can i document the pick up cost and the monthly cost?
3) in the same collection cost audit form there is a column for size, what is meant exactly by size? is it the same as weight or volumen of waste or something else?

Hi Fatma,
Yes, you can include all kinds of paper under one description, no need to call them out separately.
Could you clarify where you are seeing the cost columns? I would assume that the size column does indeed refer to weight or volume.

Hi Karin,
in the LEED EBOM reference guide on page 303 you can find 2 sample waste audit forms (table 2) where you need to fill out the size, costs, etc. But do we have to use them at all? Because the LEED online form looks totaly different.
Also some more questions:
1.) Do I have to verify the data which I completed in the table in any way (e.g. receipt of hauler,...)?
2.) The building which will be certified is situated in Germany. Some waste streams here get incinerated at "waste-to-energy plants". The waste is incinerated but because energy is produced with it could it be considered a divertion or is it still considered an incineration plant?

Hi Tajo,
You do not need to use the sample waste audit forms in the reference guide, they are only examples of the types of information that a project might gather during a waste audit. The project team should focus on what's required in the LEED credit form.
For the submittal, you will need to verify the audit procedure and demonstrate that the audit procedure included physical sorting, but do not need to verify the data with hauler receipts.
Incinerated waste cannot be considered diverted.
Hope this helps!
