NC-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

Lactation Room WEp1 Sink Calcs

We have a NC project that has a lactation room with a sink in the room of a cruise terminal. There will be 345 FTEs and 7,000+ Visitors on a daily basis.

Is there a default fixture use # (by occupancy type) for a lactation room sink or would this sink be excluded from WEp1 calcs?

If it is included, we assume this would need to be a separate Fixture Group. Also, if included, is there a GPM standard for this fixture type? The sink is currently listed as single compartment "kitchen sink" on the plumbing schedule.

Hi Rob, this fixture can be included or excluded at your discretion. Technically it should be included as that fixture type is EPACT regulated, but you can also just include a note on your WEp1 form like "SK-02 is a lactation room sink that receives negligible use relative to other fixtures, it does not affect the water use reduction percentage and has been excluded." That's usually the case with rooms like that - the use is just too small to impact the overall water use reduction by more than a fraction of a percent.   If you do include it, a separate fixture group is probably the simplest way. No default use number, just choose something reasonable. And kitchen sink would be appropriate, since that's the type of fixture you've selected.  If it was a bathroom-style sink I'd say use lavatory.
