NC-v4 MRc5:Construction and demolition waste management

MR - Construction and Demolition waste Management: Group Approach

We have a certified LEED-NCv4 project located on a site pursuing a LEED-ND certification. Since several buildings, including the LEED-NC project will be built at the same time, we would like to be able to merge each of them by using the « Group approach » for the construction waste management calculation.

As mentioned in the Reference Guide for Building Design and Construction: « All buildings in the group may be documented as one. Multiple buildings on a campus may share waste hauling contracts and on-site collection equipment. Data aggregation is allowed, provided that each building included is pursuing the same option.

By same option, does it mean that all buildings compiled in the calculation must pursue LEED certification or is it the compliance option chosen for achieving the credit ?

Why can't we use the campus approach in this credit ?

Thank you,

Maude - The Group and Campus Approaches outlined in the Reference Guide refer to multiple buildings being LEED certified at the same time. See page 10 of the BD+C Reference Guide (Projects Using Campus Certification) for more information. It does not include both LEED and non-LEED projects; however, I'm not an expert on Campus and Multiple Building certifications. I would suggest looking at these existing LEEDuser forums related to this topic - https://leeduser.buildinggreen.com/forums?f[0]=im_taxonomy_forums:4813 - and seeing if there is any help there. These articles - https://www.usgbc.org/articles/certify-multiple-buildings-leed and https://www.usgbc.org/articles/leed-certification-single-building-or-multiple-buildings - might be of interest too.  GBCI can help you if you don't find the answers you seek. And I can't speak to why USGBC chose Group vs. Campus for this credit.
