NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

DHW Flow

Hi, I'm having a hard time trying to estimate my DHW Flow in the energy model for a residential project. I already put the inputs in Table 1.4 consistent with WEp1, however, table 1.4 only shows annual consumption (kgal), eQuest input is based in flow (gpm).

I've tried to estimate it by the following equation gpm=(annual consumption/DHW Schedule minutes), the problem here is I can't find anywhere in the report the total annual consumption of water from the flow. (Already checked PV-A)

1.- Is this approach correct to estimate my input flow in order to have "consistency" with WEp1?

2.- What is a good indicator of energy cost percentage of DHW in residential buildings? Last run I did was approx 35% of energy cost. (Ilumn, process and DHW) No HVAC installed.

Thanks!

1. Yes the formula is correct. 2. It depends on the climate and perhaps the culture. In our US climate zone 4/5 it is usually about 20-30% of total energy use including HVAC. Without HVAC I would think that it would be much higher than 35%.
