NC-2009 SSc6.2:Stormwater Design—Quality Control

Reuse of rainwater for irrigation

Hello, on our project the runoff from roof area is directed to one concrete reservoir tank. Water is stored in rainwater cistern and reused for irrigation. Capturing rainwater for irrigation will reduce the amount of stormwater runoff leaving the site as well as outdoor potable water use. Water from the reservoir tank is pumped to the roof irrigation system. Due to this fact it is closed water circuit (reuse of rainwater for irrigation). According to LEED 2009 Reference Guide BD C this allows us to remove 100% of total suspended solids from rainwater.

As we understand we don’t have to implement another measures removing TSS in the rainwater tank as long as it is reused for irrigation. Are we correct?

sounds like you're ok as long as no rain water hits anything except a roof surface.
