Indoor air quality monitoring

Hi gurus,

Do any of you have preferred portable devices for indoor air quality monitoring? I know it's hard to find apples to apples, but ideally temperature, CO2, VOC, PM2.5, PM5 would be on the list. Mid-level accuracy - better than consumer, not as $ as IAQ professional level. Thanks!

For CO2 I highly recommend using ONSET HOBOs - http://www.onsetcomp.com/products/data-loggers/mx1102 - this is the one I have that self-calibrates and can be controlled via app over Bluetooth. We just tested a variety of low-range VOC sensors, and settled on this one - https://atmotube.com/ - gives you total VOCs and can't separate out PM levels, but it's reasonably priced and we are currently assessing it's viability for our studies moving forward.

Here is one more: https://flow.plumelabs.com/  I haven't tried it because it isn't released yet, but it has an interesting community component. In addition to the air quality of your location, it shows you a map of the air quality in your city and worldwide, as well as a forecast.

Margaret We've tried 3 in our office so far... Airthinx, Foobot Sensor and Feng Sensor. All have had their issues and we are still looking for the magic bullet. Contact me directly if you'd like my feedback on each. Zach zcraun@cookfox.com  212-477-0287

Wow – it’s the wild west of IEQ sensors. Purple Air also came recommended, though I don’t have personal experience with the product. https://www.purpleair.com/sensors Wondering if there is a 3rd party that could evaluate/summarize these tools and could provide a review … someone established and trustworthy in the green building community … anyone know of an outfit like that? Maybe based in Vermont?

Just randomly came across this thread and thought I'd revisit since there are lots of new products on the market.  The three commercial products I'm liking right now are Awair OmniArbn WELL, and SenseEdge. Anyone else have packaged solutions they like or are looking into right now?

I second the Awair Omni and Kaiterra SenseEdge.  We have a number of clients that are rolling them out portfolio wide now.  SEems to be a good balance of cost vs scalability.

are you integrating them into controls yet? or does the system stand alone? i.e. are measured levels telling HVAC what to do?

Another company to keep on your radar is Wynd (https://shop.hellowynd.com/). They're historically for the residential market but have been expanding into commercial applications. We've been talking with them about setting up systems in our jobsite trailers. They have a dual system where their monitors connect to their purifying systems and automatically kick on when needed (working on BMS integration as well). Additionally, they're expanding a desktop platform for monitoring data at a campus level and beyond. They also have these neat personal air filter devices that users can keep at their desk or when travelling to insure they are getting good air quality delivered direct to their personal space. I've been impressed with how quicly they've been expanding and the tools they are developing!

Thanks Natalie, I'll send Wynd an inquiry. Their Air ID concept is interesting... as is the packaged solution approach.  I should have noted in my original post that one of my criteria was sensors that are certified by RESET, just as an initial gut-check.  Conor, I know Awair is working on BAS integrations and intersted in getting there with controls contractors. So far, however, we've only deployed as an add-on layer to the existing BAS system and sensors.
