Municipal law requires that our building be completely smoke-free inside. It also bans smoking next to the building, but it’s not as stringent as the 25 foot LEED requirement. Do we have to make another policy that bans smoking within 25 feet?

We want to designate a smoking area less than 25 feet from an emergency exit. Is this okay since that door is rarely (if ever) used?

NC-v4 EQp2:Environmental tobacco smoke control

Dedicated Smoking area for Group Building with distance less than 25 ft

We are currently working on NC V4 Group buildings. Project is G+2 with total of 100 buildings and distance between the buildings are less than 25 feet. I am finding difficult to locate dedicated smoking area because the adjacent buildings are less than 25 ft and i can't allocate dedicated smoking area on Roof because of Fresh Air Intake. 

Kindly advise how can i implement this credit. Are there are any exceptions or any economic technology that i can implement to achieve this credit.

Ashraf, it might be worth requesting an interpretation about this issue. I can't think of any existing exceptions or technology that would help, except possibly locating the air intakes differently.
