Innovation: Walkable project site

Hello everyone,

Long-time LEEDuser user, first-time poster.

I have a LEED v4 ID+C project, located on the 26th storey of a skyscraper, in an urban city centre. I noted that our base building meets the requirements for the "Walkable Project Site" innovation credit from the BD+C innovation catalogue.

Has anyone had any success utilizing a BD+C innovation credit for an ID+C project?

Hello,  I have not attempted this strategy, specifically, but have been denied other BD+C strategies in the past for ID+C projects b/c GBCI argued that it was something that was not directly applicable to what we were doing within our own project. We have occasionally had success by demonstrating that a BD+C strategy that was fitting for the building was further adapted and also built upon specifically within our own project space to further support the BD+C strategy. One example I can think of quickly is with Green Cleaning/Housekeeping. We have had base buildings that have implemented the services/products for the building; our project submitted that documentation and also identified related but additional features/services/products that were specific to our space only. If you can figure out some way to do that, you'd have a much better chance at having it accepted. If it's specific to the building/site only, however, I don't think it would fly. Only other circumstance where it'd be likely to pass would be if you were a sole-tenant in a building, but I realize that's not your specific case here.
