NC-v4 LTc7:Reduced parking footprint

LEEDonline documentation for car pooling

on LEED online it is mentioned " For projects with pooled parking, include justification of allotted space"  what does this mean ? what kind of justification is needed here ?

also in the credit language it is stated " For projects that use pooled parking, calculate compliance using the project’s share of the pooled parking." I don't understand why is it written as "for projects that use pooled parking" because what I understand that providing pooled parking is mandatory for this credit!! but this sentencce indicate that some project may not provide car pooling ?! what about the 5% preferred parking requirement!

Hi Soha, When the Reference Guide says 'pooled parking' they are referring to a parking garage or parking lot where the parking spaces belong to multiple buildings. When this happens, building pursuing LEED must assign a certain number of spaces to their project building. This requirement in the Reference Guide is asking teams who must do this to justify why they alloted the spaces they did to their project and telling those projects to base the parking calculations on the portion of parking spaces they have alloted to their project.  The carpool space is still a requirement, and is separate from the discussion you are referring to above.  I hope this helps!
