Hi,
I'm currently simulating a building that will be equipped with exterior blinds automatically raised and lowered as a function of incident solar radiation. Appendix G Table 3.1 (No. 5 d.) states that "...automatically controlled fenestration shades or blinds shall be modeled...".
Taking into account that the control of this devices deeply impacts both HVAC and Lighting energy uses, is there any default control that shall be considered for simulation purposes (ex.: blinds lowering whenever solar radiation exceeds 300 W/m2 and raised when it reaches 275 W/m2) ?
Regards,
Aru Sau

Simple way we did it before is - it anticipating the full/partial shading over your window through out the entire year (as per the solar angle) and creating a schedule which is attached to the indoor shading in your energy simulation tool. A narrative justifying your schedule needs to be provided to LEED submittal.
