NC-v4 INc1:Innovation

Innovation: PBT source reduction - lead, cadmium and copper

the credit does not allow for lead in roofing or flashing.

almost all steel is recycled and the companies report minor lead in the material due to the recycled materials - the one we are working on is 0.0 - 0.04% due to the materials

have be rejected due to the lead being noted - this in fact if you are using metal roofing or have steel in flashings how can the credit be obtained.

thanks

David,  Our project was a renovation of the medical office building.  Specs called for a TPO roofing system.  Carlisle was the manufacturer.  We sent them an email, that included all products used, requesting a statement on letterhead stating that all the products were free of lead, cadmuium and copper.  I included the LEED credit language in the request.  Carlisle kindly replied and sent a statement for each product confirming it complied with the credit and the other credits each product complied with and resources to find the documentation.     We received PBT credit.  I hope this helps.  I found most manufacturers to be very helpful and responsive.  I was determined to receive the credit.   Ann
