Hi all,
We have a new LEED NC project which is located in a developing industrial area. This area is still developing access to public buses and other services mentioned in LEED V4 guideline is difficult as it counts the number of rides. The project owners have already planned having a shuttle service to the nearest main bus station which is situated in 4.8 km which will facilitate the employees of the building and this prevent them using their private vehicles. There are a few public bus services available for the time being and it is expected to increase with the development of other industries and infrastructure.
The problem we have is that is there any possibility to achieve the quality transit credits? Is there any alternative methods which we can apply to achieve these credits as they are very critical for us.

Hi Magda,
Let's break your question down into 2 parts: the shuttle and the trip frequency. If you can provide documentation that planned stops and stations you mentioned will be sited, funded, and under construction by the date of certificate of occupany, then you can count these trips. As for the shuttle - there was a LEED Interpretation for v3 (ID #10004) which indicated that this was acceptable. However, there has not been such an Interpretation for v4. It might be best to submit a CIR for this. However, I imagine if you can provide an adequate narrative explaining that the shuttle is free, available to all building occupants, and the anticipated frequency of trips, then you will be ok.

I don't think the shuttles will qualify unless there has been another change. This is from ID# 100001977 Reference Guide correction from 2015.
"Informal transit (rider share) a publicly available transit service that includes a fixed route service, fare structure, and regular operation. It does not consist of taxi, private shuttles or seasonal, on-call or on-demand transit"
