This project is a small Inn that has a small parking lot onsite and a larger parking lot outside of the project boundary. The owner wants to include electric charging stations, but would prefer to have the closer lot fully open to guests with any vehicle type. Is the project still eligible for this credit if the charging stations are located in the nearby satellite lot?

Audrey - The credit does not require electric charging stations to be closest to the main building entry, however your question is really about whether it can be outside of the LEED boundary. LEED Interpretations (www.usgbc.org/leed-interpretations) 5147 and 10202 have additional guidance for preferred parking located outside of the LEED boundary and it seems likely that the same guidance can apply to charging stations. If your company has an account rep, I would confirm with them. With that said, the cost of running the the conduit and wire is usually a significant factor in locating charging stations.

LI-10202 applies to v.3 and v.2 projects. LI-5147 only applies to v2, however it is restated in 10202 (which applies to v.3) so I shouldn't have included it.
