NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Maintenance Garage Baseline System

I'm hoping someone can help me determine the appropriate Baseline system for a Vehicle Maintenance Facility for a LEED v2009 project. The total project area is about 34,500 s.f. however 28,000 s.f. of the building is a Maintenance Garage that will be heated only with unit heaters when the office area is only 6,500 s.f. Based on Table G3.1.1A it appears the Baseline should be System 5 for the total project area but if applied to just the conditioned area it would be System 3 and the Garage would be served by System 9 Wamr Air Furnaces. What is the appropriate approach for this condition? Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Keith, According to the building areas I think your second approach would be better. The building is mainly heating only so you can use system 9 for the maintenance area and you can use an exception for the offices and use system 3. I hope that helps.

Thanks Saif! This does appear to be the logical approach.
