Wet-applied Lubricants

We also got direct feedback from GBCI/USGBC.  Lubricants, although wet applied, do NOT need to meet criteria of IEQc2 Low Emitting Materials in v4 program.  Additionally, concrete "sealants" which fall more under category of Mortars (crack fillers) DO NOT need to comply as they are inherently non-emitting - yet NOT to be confused with top coat concrete sealants which do need to comply. And, note that the language for the Paints & Coatings category in the reference guide states that General Emissions Evaluations are only needed for those applied to “Walls, Floors, Ceilings” – and this needed clarification, and we are waiting on official response.  The intention is that GEE’s are needed on all Paints and Coatings on surfaces which are in direct contact with occupants – however per the specific language, this would seem to omit paints on exposed pipes for example. However GBCI has come back saying that paint in these applications does need to comply. They are looking into this language further.  We will report back and share more when we receive official ruling.
