NC-v4 SSc2:Site development - protect or restore habitat

Site calculations for single building part of a larger complex

We have a five-acre site with multiple buildings. However, we are pursuing certification for only one of the buildings. Does the entire site have to meet the prerequisite?

Hi Michael, Great question, that depends on a couple of factors. Will the remaining buildings on site be certified in the future? If so, I would recommend pursuing a Campus Certification for the entire site, and then applying those credits earned in the campus certification for each individual site. If the other buildings on site will not be pursuing LEED in the future, or if it's unknown at this point, check out the Supplemental Guidance on MPRs (https://www.usgbc.org/Docs/Archive/General/Docs6473.pdf). This document will help you determine what guidelines to follow when setting the site boundary with the buildings not pursuing LEED, see pages 25-26. All this being said, each building being LEED Certified must meet all of the prerequisites. If a building is not pursuing LEED certification they do not need to comply with LEED prerequisites. I hope this helps!
