CS-2009 SSc7.2:Heat Island Effect—Roof

Building Footprint

Hi, all Our team had a technical advice from USGBC reviewer, the comment is like below... " The LEED form indicates a total roof area (excluding mechanical equipment, photovoltaic panels, and skylights) of 23,214.31 square feet, whereas the project building footprint reported within PIf2: Project Summary details is 30,203.32 square feet, and no explanation of this apparent discrepancy has been provided." Our building is an atypical shape building, so a total roof area could not match with building footprint area...I don't understand why reviewer commented like that. should these areas coincide with each other? How could I handle this situation? Thanks.

This is a common question if your reported total roof area differs from your reported building footprint. Recommend you provide a narrative with an explanation of the discrepancy. If possible, show a diagram of the reported building footprint and the reported total roof area.
