air-side economizer, how to input in calculator

Our project is a one floor (on the 30th) LEED-CI project gut renovation project. The base building systems that ventilate this floor have the capability of varying the outside air percentage being delivered based on the outdoor ambient conditions. For example, during shoulder seasons, the operators could send 100% outside air to the floors and not run any chillers for mechanical cooling. When I’ve had to show compliance for this credit in the past, the buildings I’ve worked in had fixed outside air values going to each floor, making the outdoor air intake flow provided simple to input in the calculator. If we have identify the percentage of outside air during a peak cooling condition, would I need to obtain some additional information from the operating staff of the building on the existing equipment. The “Instructions” tab is not clear what to do when you have a system with the ability to do air-side economizer. Thanks! Courtney

You should demonstrate compliance at the minimum flow of OA for occupied hours. Anything more than that will also comply. As far as knowing what these conditions are, the design engineer is responsible for designing this. They should have that information.
