I know others have asked this but I cannot find any definitive guidance on how to relate for example a dishwasher with an EU energy rating to the Energy Star label. I have found the very useful website for computer equipment but I cannot find the equivalent for appliances. Do I have to compare the specification for each individual type and model of appliance with the energy star specification or is there an established equivalence - for example, an A+ rated dishwasher under the EU system is equal to Energy Star?

I am not aware of any equivalency studies. The baseline should be the Energy Star comparison. The actual installed equipment should be as designed. Justify your calculations and it should be OK.
