This is my first time handling LEED documentation for MR credits and I am confused as to how to use the calculator tab for MRc5. The addenda says ' Updated Regional Materials comment to clarify that only one distance value needs to be entered - Allow format cell and insert comments on locked version of calculator tab'. I assume I need to enter only one number for total distance in column X and the percentage of compliant material in Column Y. But the cells in Column X are locked and I am not sure how to go around it / unlock it. I am not able to figure out what 'Allow format cell and insert comments on locked version of calculator tab' means.

Kavita: If you are pursuing Option 2 for this credit you would enter miles in columns T, U, V, and W as applicable to the specific product (consider that there would likely be a combination of travel modes). If you are pursuing Option 1 for this credit you would only enter miles in column W. Column X is the total weighted distance calculation and should not be unlocked for editing.

I have a further question here. We have a breakdown of distances (road, rail, sea). That is all fine but we have these distances in two scenarios: from point of extraction to site and from point of manufacture to site. Which do I enter into the calculator? E.g. Distance from point for extract: 250 miles by truck and 2360 miles by sea. Distance from point of manufacture to project site: 41 miles by truck. What would I put in for distance traveled by road for example?

Great question. If you hover over cell Y7 in the calculator, USGBC provides further instruction. "For BD+C projects enter whichever is the furthest compliant manufacture/extraction distances from the project site (using the radius or travel distance)." So in your case above, use distance from point of extraction because it is furthest from the project site.
