Under several material credits its mentioned that "Procure 20 different permanently installed item from 5 different manufacturer"...for EPD/CSR My question is, 1) To meet the requirement under the credit, can I procure the materials meeting the requirement and install permanently in the project without taking Quantity in the consideration? 2. If I am procuring Aluminum frame from 3 manufacturer out of which only 1 manufacturer is meeting the requirement, will this be counted? OR all 3 manufacturer has to meet the requirement? Cost of material which meets the requirement is high and other material cost is less.

Pawan, My understanding is that: 1. A minimum quantity is not required. 2. If the aluminium frame you are purchasing from different manufacturers has different properties, it can be considered a different product and only one manufacturer would count. If it is the the same product from different factories, I honestly don't know if it would be counted.

Thanks Dionisio, The product application is same. All aluminum frame from 3 manufacturer will be installed at window assembly. I believe the guide language speaks about the item only without considering application. For the same application if I procure material from different manufacturer it may count as different product since the material procured from different manufacturer will not have similar composition, ingradient, properties,..etc. Looking someone to put more views on it....

Johanna, Yes- these are separate components / products and can be listed as individual line items in the calculator / contribute any associated EPDs they each have, etc.

Pawan, Take a look at this helpful video, particularly starting at the 2 min mark, where your question is directly answered: https://www.usgbc.org/gallery/video/2769052/0 It advises that "a product counts as (2) different products if purchased from (2) different manufacturers even if the product(s) purchased serves the same function." The example they give is (2) gloss sheen paints would only be one product if purchased from the same manf, but count as (2) if purchased from (2) manfs. Hope this helps!
