Additional Flush-out Duration after Air Test Failed

If Option 2 for an air test fails, the remedy is .... "....conduct an additional flush-out with outside air and retest the noncompliant concentrations. Repeat until all requirements are met. When retesting noncompliant building areas, take samples from the same locations as in the first test, although it is not required." Does anyone have a good idea how long the additional flush-out should be or the amount of air (cfm) that needs to be moved through the system?

Nice gray area they have there. My first suggestion would be to look around and figure out why you failed. Sometimes it is new furniture, cleaning products or other temporary items that once removed would mean the test would pass rather quickly. If you can't find an easy target, I would flush another 5 days during the shoulder seasons. Winter and summer would have different variables. My number is arbitrary and based on my own experience with flush outs and working with owners anxious to get into buildings. What does the CxA or ME think?

Thanks! This is a preemptive question. We haven't failed.... yet. Just trying to get a full picture for the owner. I think that as I understand more about the test then it will also depend on how far the test exceeds the limits. Five days sounds like a good ball park to start with. Thank you!
