NC-2009 SSc5.1:Site Development—Protect or Restore Habitat

Indoor plants planted in the ground

Good afternoon, We are analyzing a building that in addition to having an outside green area and a green roof, will also have plants planted in the ground inside the building, without flowerpots. Do interior plants count in the calculation as green area to comply with the credit SSc5.1? Thank you for your help.

I love this concept! Given that the intent of this credit is to "To conserve existing natural areas and restore damaged areas to provide habitat and promote biodiversity" I do not expect that the interior plants will count because they are not accessible to habitat. Sounds like some nice biophilic features for the occupants though!
