FAQs about MRc7 :

Do I need to provide invoices for all of the new wood products purchased for the project, or just FSC wood products?

I have supporting manufacturer documentation for the FSC wood used on our project. Is this enough to document this credit, or do I need invoices as well?

Can products labeled “FSC Recycled” or “FSC Recycled Credit” contribute towards MRc7? What about "FSC Mix" percentages that refer to recycled content?

Does FSC-certified wood automatically contribute to IEQc4.4 as a low-emitting material?

We are using a lot of reclaimed wood. Should we include this in our MRc7 calculations? What about wood that is already installed on the project, in a renovation? What about wood products with recycled content?

Does FSC-certified bamboo products count towards this credit?

A product has FSC-certified veneer, but a non-certified core. Can we prorate the MRc7 contribution of this product based on the cost of the veneer?

Invoice vs Bill of Lading

Door supplier is hesitant to provide copy of Invoice from Manufacturer. He has provided a copy of the Bill of Lading indicating FSC %, and COC #. And then sent a separate email with pricing information (door & hardware suppliers consider their pricing proprietary & confidential). Is there a way around this? Does the BOL containing the required information suffice?

Is your door supplier installing the product not he project? If they are installing, then I recommend you take a look at LI# 10296. The door supplier does not need to be FSC chain of custody certified if they are installing the product, and they would provide their own invoice plus a letter from the manufacturer. http://www.usgbc.org/content/li-10296 If they are not installing, then the supplier needs to be FSC Chain of Custody certified in order for the doors to be eligible for the certified wood credit. If the door supplier is FSC certified, then all you need is the invoice from the door supplier stating the FSC claim (ex: FSC Mix %, FSC Mix Credit), and you would not need any further information from the manufacturer.

The Door Supplier is not installing, but in order to maintain compliance with COC the doors are being shipped directly from the manufacturer (VT Industries) to the jobsite for acceptance & installation by the installation contractor, the Supplier never handles the door only the paperwork. The shipping ticket/bill of lading indicates FSC % and the CoC number on it, and shows directy delivery from manuf to jobsite, but does not indicate the cost. Would this BOL coupled with a letter from the Supplier indicating the cost of each item suffice?

FSC requires all companies along the supply chain that take legal ownership of FSC-certified products to be certified, regardless of whether they physically possess the material or not. Shipping directly from the manufacturer will not change the FSC certification requirement for the door supplier.
