Industry-Wide EPD - error in description?

Hi all, In the ref guide (p.514), it states that as part of Industry Wide EPD "the manufacturer is explicitly recognized as a participant by the program operator." However, this is the same exact description for Product-Specific Type III EPD. For an Industry-Wide EPD, its my understanding that the manufacturer is NOT explicitly recognized as a participant of the program operator. I'm looking for some guidance/ clarification on this. Thank you.

That is not an error. A manufacturer must participate in the Industry-Wide EPD in order for its products to be awarded LEEDv4 credit.

Thanks Charles for the response. Apologies, let me clarify the question. We trying to understand the difference. The reference guide states that both "Industry-wide (generic) EPD -- Products with third-party certification (type III)... are valued at one half..." and "Product-specific Type III EPD -- Products with third-party certification (type III)... are valued at one whole..." Are Industry-wide EPD's truly meant to be third-party Type III certifications?

Yes, they each are required to be reviewed and verified by a third-party. An Industry-Wide EPD should list the manufacturers that participated in providing data for the Industry-Wide EPD.

Hi Megan,   The description is not same.  For Industry wide it is written as ''a'' participant of the program operator however, for the product specific it is presented as ''the'' participant of the program operator. So, industry wide EPD refers to a group of manufacturers but product specific is owned by only one manufacturer.
