NC-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

Water use in a campus project

We are working on a LEED campus project which is going to be certified with one new construction building (will be certified LEED NC 2009) and some other buildings which are not going to be certified. In this site there are two separate rooms from the main building which are used by security staff who works 24/7. They have one wash room attached to one of the security room with a WC and a shower head. My questions are; 1. As these security rooms and their wash room is located separately do we have to consider this for the FTE and water use reduction calculation for the LEED NC building? 2. For the LEED master site do we have to consider the securities for FTE and this security rooms and their wash rooms if the answer for the above question is no? Thank you

Hi Magda, 1. As a support space that serves the project I would include the water use by the security staff. Due to the low occupancy/use this should not impact your overall water savings too much. 2. Yes, FTE or occupant calculations must be provided for all buildings and spaces contained within the LEED campus boundary, regardless of whether those buildings or spaces are pursuing LEED Certification.

Hi Carlie, Thank you. My doubt is that this security staff has a separate wash room apart from the building which is pursuing LEED certification. Therefore should we consider this in the water calculation for the building?
