Discounted Permits as Preferred Parking?

Have people tried using discounted parking as preferred parking for this credit? Previous versions of LEED allowed it and it is called out as an option in LEED v4 Green Vehicles, but isn't mentioned in regards to carpooling.

Hi Nathan, the Preferred Parking section of the LT Overview (page 57 in the Reference Guide) only describes preferred parking as closest to the main entrance. My sense is that discounted parking is not allowed since it is not called out but I would contact GBCI for clarification to be sure.

Hi Nathan, Did you ever get a response from GBCI about this? The LEEDUser definition for preferred parking still includes the discounted parking passes, and we are looking into this exact issue for a project as well so we want to be sure it will be accepted. Thanks!

We never asked. The project I was working on decided not to pursue it as they were part of a large campus and the project team decided not to get the school's transportation group involved.
