How would packaging, for furniture, be included in this conversation? If the packaging is 100% recyclable and is pulled into the GC's scope of waste diversion for this credit, do furniture manufactures have a direct impact on this credit? How is it calculated?

Tracy - My apologies in not responding sooner. I somehow got unsubscribed from this forum and did not get notice of your post.
Yes - packaging from the furniture should be included in the credit calculation for ID+C projects and hence the furniture manufacturers have a direct impact on this credit. (Please see Qualifying Products and Exclusions under Cross-Cutting Issues in the Material and Resources Overview of the ID+C LEED Reference Guide, which states: "Furniture items within the project’s scope of work are also required to be included in credit calculations.")
The weight or volume of the recyclable material (or landfilled material) must be measured so that the material can be included in the overall waste diversion calculation for Option 1. If teams are following Option 2, a manufacturer who has recyclable packaging materials and/or works to reduce its packaging waste (e.g., via source reduction at the factory or take back programs) helps the team reduce the overall waste generated on the site.
